TRANSPORT GUIDE
Dog Transport from Ohio to Florida
Moving a dog from Ohio to Florida involves more than choosing a point on a map. An Akron pickup and a Miami delivery are a different journey from a Cleveland pickup and a Jacksonville handoff. Elite Pet Transportation reviews the actual addresses, the dog's weight, and your requested date before sending a final quote. This page is a planning guide for that direction of travel, not an advertisement for a particular departure or a promise of an available seat.
Start by identifying who will release your dog in Ohio and who will receive the dog in Florida. A family member, breeder, or other authorized contact may handle either end. Put the correct name, phone number, and street address into the request, including apartment or gate instructions when relevant. Clear contact details reduce unnecessary back-and-forth during scheduling and help distinguish a residential delivery from an address that needs special access arrangements.
Choosing and planning your trip
Group service means your dog shares a planned transport route with other bookings. It can suit owners who have some pickup flexibility; the Group pickup window is two to three days. Private service uses a dedicated trip for your household's pets rather than sharing with other households. Neither choice should be treated as an automatic same-day delivery promise. Discuss timing with the Owner, especially if a move, closing, or flight leaves someone unavailable for the handoff.
Ohio and most of Florida observe Eastern time, but parts of the Florida Panhandle use Central time. Give the actual destination city instead of assuming every Florida appointment uses the same clock. The trip's pickup and drop-off information should show the local time zone for each location and the relevant date. If your plans change after a quote is sent, contact the Owner so the scheduled date and handoff details can be reviewed together.
The estimator can help you compare services before you have an account. Treat a ZIP-based result as a preliminary price, because a long state-to-state journey is priced using driving miles between the submitted street addresses. Weight matters too: an eight-pound dog and a seventy-pound dog do not use the same Group size charge. For several dogs in one booking, enter each weight separately rather than combining them into a single total.
Preparing for pickup and delivery
Before travel, upload the health certificate and vaccination records for the dog, and confirm the pickup and delivery contacts. Readable phone photos or supported document files are useful; check the upload status rather than assuming a photo attached successfully. Ask your veterinarian about the requirements for your particular animal and travel dates. Tell Elite Pet Transportation about medications, feeding instructions, or handling concerns so those details can be discussed before pickup.
You receive a reviewed quote before accepting terms or paying a deposit through Square. Approval of a request is not the same thing as a verified deposit or a completed booking. Once the deposit is verified, use the client trip page to follow the next steps and check the remaining balance. Keep all payment communication connected to that trip so an estimate, a final quote, and a payment receipt are not confused with one another.
Published price ranges
These are single-pet ranges from the current chart, not a fixed price or a claim about this route's mileage. Group ranges run from Extra Small to 2XL. Solo ranges show the included first pet up to 60 lb and the first-pet surcharge above 60 lb. Actual driving miles between submitted addresses select the tier.
| Driving miles | Group total | Solo total |
|---|---|---|
| 0–300 mi | $370–$620 | $550–$650 |
| 301–500 mi | $400–$650 | $750–$850 |
| 501–800 mi | $525–$775 | $1,050–$1,150 |
| 801–1,100 mi | $650–$900 | $1,350–$1,450 |
| 1,101–1,400 mi | $800–$1,050 | $1,650–$1,750 |

For Group, each additional pet adds its size charge plus 50% of the distance base rounded UP separately to the next whole dollar. Solo additional pets add their size charge only. See the complete pricing guide for the weight brackets and itemized rules.
Frequently asked questions
Does Ohio-to-Florida transport have a fixed statewide price?
No. The actual driving distance, service choice, each dog's weight, and the number of pets determine the estimate. A northern Florida destination and a southern Florida destination can fall in different distance bands. Request a reviewed quote for your addresses rather than relying on a statewide flat rate.
What deposit is required, and when is the balance due?
The deposit is 30% of the total, with a $150 minimum, rounded to whole dollars and never above the total. Accept your reviewed quote before paying through Square. The remaining balance is due at delivery via Square.
What happens if the trip is canceled?
If the client cancels at any time, the deposit is forfeited and no additional balance is owed for cancellation. If Elite Pet Transportation cancels, the client receives a full refund of the deposit and all other payments.
